...that sometimes you could just have superpowers for a few minutes? This morning while we were out for our daily bike ride with Lexi we decided to take a different route -- as we were turning the corner, I heard a car alarm going off. There is a lot of new construction in our area and thought perhaps it was a builder or worker. All of a sudden a man on a bicycle comes ripping around the corner and down the street towards me holding something in his arm, kind of hunched over. To me it looked very suspicious [if you know me at all, I'm always wary of "suspicious" characters and ready to take them with a heeeyaaah, and an elbow jab to the gut, and then stomp on his foot....] so I made sure to stare really hard at him. I just got that "something isn't right about that" feeling and kept watching him. I had turned my bike around and was on the corner as he went by. I was so close to saying something, but didn't want to stereotype or accuse unjustifiably. I started up the street to where the car alarm had gone off, and saw a truck parked in a driveway with the passenger door wide open. The alarm had stopped and I didn't see anyone -- a lady came out a moment later and realized she had been robbed. That man had shimmied the window down and stolen her purse! She was really upset and couldn't even call 911, so I called for her and she hopped in a truck with her husband to try and follow the guy. No luck -- the police came and I told him what I had seen -- down to what he was wearing [I did stare hard!] Hopefully they will catch the guy, there were good handprints on the window....who knows! I really DETEST people who steal from others!!!
So the superpowers? I would have used my elastigirl arms and grabbed the bike while the guy flew over the handlebars smashing his face on the asphalt (oh yeah) and then wrapped his bike around him while we waited for law enforcement. Oh if only................

Your so funny Dani! I totally know what you're talking about though because that makes me irate when people steal from others, especially me!
Easy. Diane/Lloyd - Say Anything.
Next time you should clothesline the dude right off his bike. If he's innocent, tell him you had a muscle spasm. (That's what I do anyway>.)
I'm going to remember that one for sure Brandoneous!!
And hey, you're the first person to even mention my movie quote - you get the prize! :)
I totally didn't know the movie, but I've only seen it once.
I dream all the time that I have super powers...seriously at least once a week. Weird huh! So yeah I wish I had some.
You have such a much more exciting life than I do...apparently there is not really any crime on this tiny little post I live on. no one locks their car or house etc. That is great for me and all but really, am I in a real place?! WHAT AM I DOING HERE!!!
Ah, I love the superhero day dream. Nothing would be more empowering than to show those nasty bad guys a thing or two. Aren't you smart staring the guy down, though. I do hope they catch him. Stealing is dirty. If it doesn't belong to you...don't take it! Once my wallet got stolen while I was at work. The odd thing was, I was working at the church book store. hmmmm.
I love you, Dani. Enough said.
Too bad you didn't have a fat stick in your hand that you could have thrown in his spokes. I have a sick fascination with wanting to do that. Anyway, I am sure that lady thought you were her superhero that day!
Cute blog! By the way, the jam was delicious!!!!!!
KJ, I said the same thing when I talked to her that night, than i went on a tirade because she had the kids with her and she still wanted to chase him. An over reaction? I think not!
wow, I always thought you had superpowers. We'll at least when we lived together. What would I call it.....
THE SLEEPER: Can instantly come alive and have complete conversations. May sometimes be giving clues as to who she helped that day by her acting out several situation. AND as fast as she comes alive, she can become a sleeper again.
Liza -- hmmmm, I really haven't the slightest idea who you might be talking abou--zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
-t. I think that might have been Amy or Jessica. Anyways, good bye and thank you for calling US Robotics, have a great day. (wow where did that come from?)
