Yes, I've been absent from my blog these past two weeks.... Lester is home for a brief visit, I have been chained to my sewing machine [not really, but at least upstairs], and I couldn't even make it to book club but thankfully I'm almost done.
The Renaissance faire is --->TOMORROW<--- so stay tuned...early next week there will be pictures galore and a couple good posts. Until then, I bid you good day.

Chins, Fingers, Mouse Dog and Auf Wiedersehen
Well it was not a boring weekend, that's for sure. I'll start with the chin -- we were at a friend's birthday party Saturday and towards the end, Corben's chin collided with a little girl's head. Corben's chin must be made of iron, since he only had a small split (not even stitch worthy) that didn't even bleed. The little girl, well she has a nice 2 inch (maybe more) cut on her head that bled PROFUSELY!! They rushed off to the hospital and she was fine after 10 staples. Even better is that they are in the same 2nd grade class - they had good stories to tell today. Corben is now the "crimson chin" or "chin-of-steel." Here is his wound (2 days later)
The finger, well Madison decided last night to test her heat tolerance for fingers on a light bulb -- the bulb definitely won and she has a nice little blister on her finger. As tired as she was, even through the tears, we HAD to read scriptures before she would go to bed, and she repeated her part through the sobs. I'll post a picture after she gets up from her nap.
The dog catches mice! I scored big time with Lexi....there are little mice or voles around this area, and it seems they might be taking a liking to my garden area (which needs to be cleaned out). She has caught maybe 4 or 5 so far, and tries to use them as toys. The first one she caught she played a little rough with, since it's whole back end was paralyzed. I had to take it to a neighbor to quickly dispense of it, I didn't have the heart to kill it even though it's a nasty yard mouse.
So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, GOODBYE!! Christine has a new home/family and it isn't with us!

Farewell Summer, HELLO FALL!
It seems that the weather has finally ceased with the choke you to death heat/humidity and instead has been throw-open-the-windows-and-let-that-fresh-air-in for over a week now.
I LOVE IT!! [and so does my electric bill]
So with today being the first day of fall [officially at 11:44am] I thought I would post a few memories as a fond farewell to one of the busiest summers I can remember.
As great as summer was, fall is extremely welcome with the cool weather and beautiful color coming our way. I really love the fall color here - and having four seasons. If only the west coast knew what they were missing ;]
Here is Madison's finished dress -- YAHOOO! Now I can start on mine :)

How Does That Happen?
I mean really! I was sure I posted something during the week, and now it's Sunday and I've spent my free time cutting fabric and sewing. Oh well, it's going to be worth it.
I happened upon this a few weeks ago, when I couldn't find Lexi --
Here's a couple conversations I've had with the children lately:
Corben: When I'm in college, I'll be able to study potions.
Me: .......uhm, like Harry Potter does?
C: Yeah, like with those little glass tubes and stuff
M: Oh, you mean like chemistry?
C: That's what it is...yeah, I'll get to study chemistry in college [won't he be lucky!]
M: Well guess what? You might even get to take chemistry when you are in high school.
C: All right!
[I'll have to remind him of this conversation when he's learning about "a mole"]
And something, from Maddie:
"Mommy, can I have the pwincess ravilollies for lunch today, please?"
[guess what she had for lunch?!]
And another Madisonism:
She'll bring me a book, put it in my hand and say "talk about this Mommy." She's been doing that with pretty much everything lately, even her new princess shoes that have pictures of the "big 6" princesses.

Not So Holy Hanna
It wasn't such a big deal; lots of rain, a little wind and thankfully the wandering trampoline stayed put. The power stayed on, and we didn't even have to drink our "just-in-case" water although if Corben had his way, we would have lived by candlelight and bottled water.
Anyways, I've almost finished Madison's test dress, and will start on her real dress this week [minus the hem...waiting for the crinoline hoop skirt to get the right hem length] and snapped this picture. Patton REALLY wanted to be in the picture as well and even smiled!
I forgot to post this picture as well, last weekend when Lester was here we went for a family bike ride. As soon as we were at the back of the development [the farthest away from the house] the sky opened up and it poured. We laughed all the way back home, racing raindrops and had a blast. We were dripping wet, and even Lexi had a good time.
