Farewell Summer, HELLO FALL!

It seems that the weather has finally ceased with the choke you to death heat/humidity and instead has been throw-open-the-windows-and-let-that-fresh-air-in for over a week now.
I LOVE IT!! [and so does my electric bill]

So with today being the first day of fall [officially at 11:44am] I thought I would post a few memories as a fond farewell to one of the busiest summers I can remember.

As great as summer was, fall is extremely welcome with the cool weather and beautiful color coming our way. I really love the fall color here - and having four seasons. If only the west coast knew what they were missing ;]

Here is Madison's finished dress -- YAHOOO! Now I can start on mine :)

HAPPY FALL Y'ALL

How Does That Happen?

I mean really! I was sure I posted something during the week, and now it's Sunday and I've spent my free time cutting fabric and sewing. Oh well, it's going to be worth it.

I happened upon this a few weeks ago, when I couldn't find Lexi --
Here's a couple conversations I've had with the children lately:

Corben: When I'm in college, I'll be able to study potions.
Me: .......uhm, like Harry Potter does?
C: Yeah, like with those little glass tubes and stuff
M: Oh, you mean like chemistry?
C: That's what it is...yeah, I'll get to study chemistry in college [won't he be lucky!]
M: Well guess what? You might even get to take chemistry when you are in high school.
C: All right!
[I'll have to remind him of this conversation when he's learning about "a mole"]

And something, from Maddie:
"Mommy, can I have the pwincess ravilollies for lunch today, please?"
[guess what she had for lunch?!]

And another Madisonism:
She'll bring me a book, put it in my hand and say "talk about this Mommy." She's been doing that with pretty much everything lately, even her new princess shoes that have pictures of the "big 6" princesses.

Not So Holy Hanna

It wasn't such a big deal; lots of rain, a little wind and thankfully the wandering trampoline stayed put. The power stayed on, and we didn't even have to drink our "just-in-case" water although if Corben had his way, we would have lived by candlelight and bottled water.

Anyways, I've almost finished Madison's test dress, and will start on her real dress this week [minus the hem...waiting for the crinoline hoop skirt to get the right hem length] and snapped this picture. Patton REALLY wanted to be in the picture as well and even smiled!
[a better picture of the laces/arm bands]

I forgot to post this picture as well, last weekend when Lester was here we went for a family bike ride. As soon as we were at the back of the development [the farthest away from the house] the sky opened up and it poured. We laughed all the way back home, racing raindrops and had a blast. We were dripping wet, and even Lexi had a good time.

Just Another Day?

As I was reading the paper this morning, I came across the weather section. I usually just skim across it but today, well this just happened to catch my eye.

I just might swing by the Walmart and get some extra food and water just in case..........

The Test Dress

I decided to "test" the pattern with dollar fabric for Madison's faire/Halloween costume before cutting the good fabric. I'm really glad I did, as the dress and sleeves are ridiculously long; 6-8 inches! I'll just cut the pattern down for the "real" dress. I'm a little worried since after this picture, I couldn't get the dress off Maddie fast enough. Hmmmm, I hope she wants to wear the real thing!
All that's missing from her costume is the headpiece, front laces down the dress, and little arm band to pouf out the top of the sleeves. [I'll add picture with those later]
