Project -- KITCHEN

So for quite some time now since we've moved into our house (over a year now) I've been wanting to get all the rooms painted. To date the children's rooms and their bathroom are complete and I'll post pictures of those after I finish painting everything else, watch for a tour of the house! I've been pondering, flip-flopping and changing my mind about colors for the kitchen/breakfast nook and the entry/family room/hall for about 3 months now. I couldn't decide, then I'd pick a color and change my mind again. That's really easy to do if anyone of you have painted before--> You think you have the perfect color, then you look at the color selection at HD or Lowes, and all of a sudden the color isn't right. I did finally find my colors, and today was the day-bought paint and supplies and BOOM the kitchen is almost done. Here is what it looked like before:This picture is actually before we moved in, but the paint was the same up until today, flat and blah. If you look at the post below with Madison in pigtails, there is also a closer shot of the boring walls. Here is phase one of painting......the top half of the eating area and rest of the kitchen:Here I am working on the trim, we opted not to spend a million hours taping everything, so I had the job of cutting in around the baseboards and windows. Such fun! On to phase two:
I love the contrast of the bottom color, it's called clam chowder. I love the cool names of paint! [Please excuse the table and chairs, Lester would be horrified to know that they are on the blog, he can't stand our table and costco chairs. I personally don't mind, the kids can't harm them, since they're indestructible! Functional, and yes a little plain, but it will work until the kids are a little older.....anywhoo back to the project!] Phase three comes tomorrow, we're putting up a chair rail. Can't wait for it to be done. Stand by for the finished product...coming soon!

A Day in the Life....the Bomb-e-ville

Okay, so nothing terribly exciting happened over the weekend for us except the normal everyweekend goings on... Soccer game, baked pies for a ward activity (Lester made a triple berry pie and I made a peanut butter/chocolate cream pie with Reeses mixed in--both were delish!), and a normal Sunday church day. Well, I guess I should mention the Bomb-e-ville. What is this you ask? Well, some background if you will. When we arrived stateside last year from Germany, we had to acquire new vehicles since we neither took/brought back cars. A shame too, Lester does miss his "horsepower" bmw 318i. (Corben named his car, and it stuck.) Back to the bomb-e-ville, the car that Lester found once we settled in here was a black Pontiac Bonneville ssei, a seemingly nice car with the power and comfort that he so desired. This isn't actually his car, but it looks exactly like this one. Thus began a somewhat sketchy relationship between a man and his car, quite similar to the movie "Christine." The car has an alarm, that seems to go off when in the direct vicinity of our home, and when El Lobo Gris (my Tahoe) is near. Pretty much a jealous car, since it usually sits in the driveway for the weekend as El Lobo is the drive of choice. Christine has been testing the patience of the members of this family, leaving black oily spots in the driveway, honking incessantly to get our attention (especially on Sundays), leaving Lester in the freezing cold driving to work in the winter (she won't blow heat, go figure, she's an icy chick!), and of late being extremely testy with her steering, so now she has an alias, the bomb-e-ville. The steering has become unbearable and Christine went to the doctor for a check up and was diagnosed with a terminal illness in her power steering. Power steering problems=mucho dinero. Hooray! My absolute favorite!!! One of the joys of my life is to spend lots and lots of money fixing cars. So Christine, the bomb-e-ville all I can say, is that hey--you spiced up a pretty normal weekend. Thanks!

(single black Pontiac Bonneville ssei, anyone who wants me) Disclaimer this client is currently seeing a therapist to overcome jealousy and has been known to cry uncontrollably and leave stains!

It's National Pirate Day Dontchaknow!

Halloween already? Wait a minute, it's still September. Oh that's right, it's Leif Errikson Day, oh wait, no it isn't it's NATIONAL PIRATE DAY! Arrrrrgggggggghhhhhh!
Be ye therefore warned to watch for scallywags and such while yer out pilfering fer treasure. Corben's teacher decided to have her class celebrate this "holiday" and have been learning all about pirates this month. He was very excited to dress up. He chose not to wear the earring since it would probably distract him the whole day long. (He's right, it would.) He jumps at the chance to dress up for any reason, so this was a perfect opportunity. Arrgghhh!


When Maddie woke up this morning her hair reminded me a little bit of Turk from Disney's Tarzan movie. I had to post each respective picture so the resemblance in hairstyles could be noted. It was laugh out loud funny! :)

Snapshots of Life

Okay, so here are some recent pictures of the goings on in our family. These will more than likely not be in any particular order. Just as I'm downloading them from the camera really. So enjoy! :)



The first is of Corben our FIRST GRADER!! Holy smokes! Can't even believe that he will be 7 already. Of course the only day it rained that week was the first day of school, hence the picture in the garage and not by the school. Let me just say, I'm glad we walk in the back way to school since the front was truly a little crazy.




This darling pose of Maddie with her mouth agape, (you probably know how hard it is to get a 1 1/2 year old to smile right when you're taking the picture....enough said) is to show that I can put her hair in pigtails now. LOVE IT. What I don't love is the wrestling match and do/redo of the pigtails about 4 times before the parts are somewhat decent. Even then they could still be redone, again. No thanks, crooked parts will do! :)




Corben was picked by his soccer coach to be the team captain. He had no idea (neither did we...) and so he was very excited to represent "THE FORCE." All he did however was to wear the banner and pose for a picture, but it was very exciting for him. Way to go!






The last two pics are of Corben the true daredevil and Madison enjoying the day at Fantasy Lake. We took our nieces there to have some fun at a local lake and they have the old school water toys, tarzan swings and even a trapeze. They were AWESOME!! Okay, the swings were, the trapeze was super difficult. I almost did it, but then went back to the swings. Corben here loved them, and was very sad to leave. Madison just enjoyed floating around in the water in her swim ring. It was a great day!
